Marusa is a kind hearted and industrious woman with a smile that could thaw a January day. But that smile could not thaw the hearts of her jealous stepmother and lazy stepsister. Hoping to get rid of Marusa forever they send her out into the winter’s snow on a series of impossible errands. High on a frozen mountain top Marusa meets the powerful and mysterious Montu brothers who help Marusa thwart her relative’s evil plan.

Lazy Jack lives with his mother. They are very poor, his mother works to support them both. Jack’s mother tires of this and sends him out to earn some money. In 6 days he has 6 different jobs, 5 times he fails, then on the last day with the aid of a donkey Jack earns his fortune so that Jack and his mother need never worry about money again.
